ASABA PROGRESSIVE UNION ATLANTA-ANNIVERSARY
The President of Asaba Progressive Union - Atlanta Hon. Peter Nwanze has confirmed that Atlanta chapter is celebrating its anniversary and fundraising on October 4th 1997.
So the call is going out to all Asaba Indegenes all over the world to get ready for a night to remember.Mr Nwanze who was in Dallas for Asaba day has released all the details on this event, including venue and other logistic .For complete details visit APU - ATLANTA HOME PAGE And plan to be there.
ASAGBA'S VISIT TO USA Dateline May 1997
The Asagba of asaba His Royal Highness, Obi Professor Chike Edoziem was recently on a visit of the United States.
The Asagba accompanied Chief (Dr) Sunny Odogwu who was in the USA to accept an honorary Doctoral degree from Lincoln university.
The Asagba stayed a few more days and had a meeting with Asaba indigenes. Various Asaba Unions sent representatives to meet with the asagba.
CONGRATULATIONS TO CHIEF SUNNY ODOGWU - Dateline May 1997
The Ide of Asaba, Chief Dr. Sunny Odogwu added another feather to his hat when he was bestowed an honorary doctoral degree from Lincoln University.Asaba on-line extends it congratulations to chief Dr. Sunny Odogwu.
It is also worth noting that Chief Odogwu is the only African member of the board of directors at Lincoln.
THE CREATION OF ASABA NATIONAL ASSOCIATION(ANA)
On November 9th 1996 Asaba Unions in the United States took a giant step in creating an umbrella Association incorporating all participating Asaba unions in the
United states. Various Asaba Unions in the United states sent representatives to this National conference held in Houston, Texas.
The following motions were made and duly agreed upon by the delegates:
- That the new umbrella Association shall be known as ASABA NATIONAL ASSOCIATION.
- That Mr Vincent Nwanze - Minister/Consul with the consulate General of Nigerian Office in New York was unanimously elected to be the first honorary member of the board of Directors.
- That each local Unions shall have two delegates to A.N.A.
- That each local union shall maintain its autonomy.
- That one time membership fee $250.00(us) shall be paid by each union.
- Atlanta volunteered to host the next meeting of ANA to be held in two years.
The following Unions sent delegates to the National conference
- Asaba Progressive Union, Houston Texas
- Asaba Progressive Front, Dallas/Ft worth
- Asaba Cultural Union, New York
- Asaba Progressive Union, Southern California.
- Asaba Progressive Union, Atlanta.
- Asaba Association, Wasington DC Metro.
- At-Large Memberships - Representing areas without Asaba Associations.

It was also resolved that the following actions(projects) be undertaken:
- Completion of the bylaws and constitition by Jan-March 1997
- Ratification of the constitution and Bylaws by May 1997
- Incorporation of ANA in USA as non-profit organisation by June 1997
- Filing of required papers for Tax exempt status by july-August 1997
